Bharat Shah (pictured), proprietor of Topkins Pharmacy in Harpenden, has launched an own-brand range of OTC products with three products for head lice.
Mr Shah's 'Chemists' Own' brand has been designed to convey pharmacists' professionalism and provide reassurance to customers, he told ICP. Chemists' Own selection criteria include: proven efficacy, low side effect profile, ease of use and preferred formats at the best possible prices to meet customer needs and provide good margin for retailers, said Mr Shah.
Mr Shah launched his range in response to consumer spending trends and the needs of independent pharmacists. "Through this new entity I am able to source high quality, competitively priced, over-the-counter products for common conditions which pharmacists would confidently recommend and consumers would receive well in a form that they find easiest to use. These carefully chosen products are presented in a newly-designed, tasteful, colourful and informative packaging. Chemists' Own can easily be identified by the 'medical blue'."
Chemists' own first three products, available through short-line wholesalers, are a dimethicone head lice spray, a head lice repellent shampoo, and a repellent and detangling spray. Further products will be added to the range "periodically" said Mr Shah. Pharmacists can request A3 educational posters for each product line.
